BREEDING DRAGON HILL HORSES

I have always wanted to breed a horse, that combined natural athleticism and trainability, and be lucky enough to ride and compete on it. With the onset of Covid, it gave me the impetus to start with a foal from Sky (Miss Skyler), there wasn’t much else to do during that time. Button got roped in as well and a year later Luna and Sunshine arrived (2021), both by Cevin Z who was standing at West Kington Stud.

I was encouraged by the quality and biddable nature of these foals, and what started as a crazy idea has grown, with another two foals by Future Prophecy, Petal (2022) and Bear (2023).

Future Prophecy (Stevie) stood out to me as an exceptionally talented quality thoroughbred that can move and jump with a great attitude to life. He has definitely stamped these two foals and they both have a real quality about them.

This year, Sky is expecting another foal by Future Prophecy and Button is in foal to Future Guilty Pleasure.

As for the future, I am excited, as I plan to put Sky back in foal to Future Prophecy and Button will return to Future Guilty Pleasure.

Sunshine and Luna (both by Cevin Z) are now three years old, and the aim is to put them in foal, with Future Prophecy for Luna and Future Guilty Pleasure for Sunshine. They will be lightly backed this year and then once their foals have been weaned, they will start their education. I am looking forward to seeing the horses develop and fulfil their potential.

The mares are kept at home, with the stud and general veterinary work carried out by Three Counties Equine Hospital. The mares and the youngsters are kept separately from the other horses throughout the year, as a bio-security measure.

The youngsters will be produced at their own pace as 5 year olds and will be for sale, as will be the foals as weanlings.
